The Witcher series, already assured of a season 2, will soon expand its universe on Netflix through a prequel entitled The Witcher: Blood Origin.

With six episodes, this series will take place 1,200 years before the events of The Witcher and will revisit the creation of the first Witcher prototype as well as the events that led to the Conjunction of the Spheres, when the worlds of monsters, men and elves merged to form one.

To make this project, Netflix named Declan de Barra as showrunner and will be able to count on Michelle Yeoh, newcomer in the cast. She joins Laurence O’Fuarain (Rebellion), previously announced in a leading role.

Michelle Yeoh, recently seen in Star Trek: Discovery, will play Scian, the last member of a nomadic tribe of elves. Unbeatable with a sword, she is also a deeply damaged person. When the opportunity arises to recover a sacred sword stolen from her tribe, she embarks on a deadly quest that will change the outcome of the continent.

The Witcher: Blood Origin is still in the early stages of production, so you’ll have to be patient before you see this miniseries on Netflix.
