It’s official! Disney+ has finally announced the release date for the fourth and final season of High School Musical: The Musical: The Series. You’ll be able to catch up with all your favorite Wildcats starting August 9, 2023!

What happened in season 3 of HSMTMTS?

Upon arriving at camp, the troupe is thrilled to learn that they will be recreating the animated movie Frozen. The troupe set to work producing a play to be recorded by our beloved Corbin Bleu, famous for his role as Chad in the High School Musical movies. Instead of recording the play itself, we learn in the first episode that he intends to record a reality show instead, thanks to what happens backstage at the show. E.J. (Matt Cornett) finds himself in charge of organizing everything, which, along with the surprise arrival of Ricky (Joshua Bassett), causes trouble in his relationship with Gina (Sofia Wylie). Between lies, secrets and misunderstandings about their future at the university, our lovebirds finally go their separate ways. Ricky and Gina grow closer at the prom, and the final scene suggests they’ll be THE couple to watch in season 4.

Throughout the season, we were also introduced to new characters. Maddox (Saylor Bell Curda) and his brother Jet (Adrian Lyles) are two conflicted protagonists due to Jet secretly telling their parents about his sister’s relationship with Madison (Jojo Siwa). However, they eventually rekindle their bond and perform a cover of the iconic song from the original Disney Channel movie Camp Rock, Wouldn’t Change a Thing.

Finally, some members of the cast had life-changing personal experiences. Ashlyn (Julia Lester) went through an identity crisis and began to develop feelings for Val (Meg Donnelly), revealing to her that she is bisexual. Meanwhile, Kourtney, who got the big role of Elsa in the play, began to question her decision to go to college and contacted her mother to address her concerns.

So we left our Wildcats with the official departure of Nini (Olivia Rodrigo), the success of their play, and the preview of the documentary directed by Corbin Bleu‘s cameraman. However, the editing of the documentary caused tension between the members of the troupe and divided them.

What to expect in season 4 of High School Musical: The Musical: The Series?

According to the trailer unveiled by Disney+, the final season of High School Musical: The Musical: The Series will be rich in twists and emotions. In fact, the students of East High will participate in the filming of the fourth part of the famous High School Musical saga. This unique experience will be an opportunity for them to put into practice everything they’ve learned in their drama and music classes. They will be joined on this adventure by original cast members from the saga, including Corbin Bleu as Chad Danforth, Monique Coleman as Taylor McKessie, Lucas Grabeel as Ryan Evans, Bart Johnson as Jack Bolton, and Alyson Reed as Mrs. Darbus.

Of course, this season will also feature the show’s current stars, including Sofia Wylie, Joshua Bassett, Matt Cornett, Julia Lester, Dara Renée, Saylor Bell Curda and Adrian Lyles. Each of these characters will bring their personal touch and talent to make this final season a real success.

The production has been successful in recruiting new talent to join the cast of the series. In addition to the aforementioned actors and actresses, we’ll also have the pleasure of seeing Kylie Cantrall, Matthew Sato, Caitlin Reilly and Vasthy Mompoint.
