High School Musical: The Musical: The Series, which had its first season broadcast on the new Disney + platform, has been renewed for a Season 2. Good news for all the fans of this new show.

When season 1 of High School Musical: The Musical: The Series was announced, fans of the original saga had mixed reactions as they feared that the series would not live up to the movies. But, after watching it, the show received positive reviews. The series has obviously been renewed for a second season for the great joy of both fans and actors.

What can we expect in season 2?

During season 1, we go back to the famous East High School where a new drama teacher is in charge. Miss Jenn will propose to these students to be part of a musical, that of High School Musical. Meanwhile, after the summer vacations, we find Nini Salazar-Roberts (Olivia Rodrigo), the heroine of the series, who decides to break up with her boyfriend, Ricky Bowen (Joshua Bassett). Throughout the 10 episodes, Ricky will do his best to win back the girl he loves, to the point of joining the musical.

The creator of High School Musical: The Musical: The Series, Tim Federle, has said that he wants to distance himself from the High School Musical franchise for Season 2 of the series. Therefore, the creative team of the series decided to work on a new musical for Season 2. The students will have to perform Beauty and the Beast.

When will season 2 be released?

Season 2 of High School Musical: The Musical: The Series was originally scheduled for the fall of 2020 but shooting was interrupted and postponed due to the current health crisis. We will have to be patient to be able to watch this new season because no date has been announced for now.

The cast for season 2 of High School Musical: The Musical: The Series features Olivia Rodrigo (‘Nini’ Nina Salazar-Roberts), Joshua Bassett (‘Ricky’ Richard Bowen), Matt Cornett (E.J Caswell), Sofia Wylie (Gina Porter), Larry Sapperstein (Big Red), Frankie Rodriguez (Carlos Rodriguez), Mark St Cyr. (M. Benjamin Mazzara), Dara Renée (Kourtney), Julia Lester (Ashlyn Caswell) and Kate Reinders (Miss Jenn). It has also been announced that new characters will make their appearance during season 2. There are no further details available for now.
