Casting News: Owen Wilson in Loki, American Pie mini-reunion, Lindsey Morgan in the cast of Walker Texas Ranger

Loki – Disney+
Owen Wilson (The Royal Tenenbaums) will be participating in the Loki series that is currently under development for the Disney+ platform. There have been no specific details about the role that the actor will play in the Marvel series, however, Deadline suggests that he is expected to play an important character. (Source)

City On A Hill – Showtime
Matthew Del Negro, a recurring cast member during the first season of City On A Hill, has been confirmed to have a regular role for the second season. He plays the character of Chris Caysen, a detective in the Boston Police Department’s anti-gang division. (Source)

Genius: Aretha – Nat Geo
Seven new names have been added to the cast of Genius: Aretha, an anthology that retraces the life of Aretha Franklin, the queen of soul. Shaian Jordan will play Little Re, Pauletta Washington (She’s Gotta Have It) will play Aretha’s grandmother Rachel, while Marque Richardson (Dear White People) will play King Curtis. Steven Norfleet (Watchmen) will portray the character of Cecil and Omar J. Dorsey (Queen Sugar) has been chosen to play James Cleveland, the new director of Aretha Franklin’s church choir. Amanda Warren (The Leftovers) and Stacey Sargeant will appear as guests in the roles of Melba Parks and Dinah Washington. (Source)

Power Book II : Ghost  – Starz
The Power series spin-off with Mary J. Blige welcomes Method Man in its cast. He will play an ambitious lawyer named Davis Maclean in the series created by Courtney Kemp. This is not the first collaboration between Method Man and Mary J. Blige as they had worked together on the 1996 Grammy Award winning song I’ll Be There for You/You’re All I Need to Get By. (Source)

Americanah – HBO Max
Corey Hawkins (24: Legacy) has been chosen to play one of the leading roles in the Americanah series, an adaptation of the eponymous bestseller. He will play Blaine, a Yale professor who is the current boyfriend of Ifemelu (Lupita Nyong’o). Passionate about social injustice, he educates troubled young people and organizes demonstrations in support of a falsely accused Yale security guard. To recap, Americanah will tell the story of Ifemelu, a young woman raised in Nigeria who, as a teenager, falls in love with her classmate Obinze (Zackary Momoh). Fleeing their military-ruled country, Ifemelu heads for America, where, despite her success at school, she encounters racism while Obinze, who is calm and rational, dives instead into a dangerous life as an undocumented immigrant in London after not being able to join Ifemelu. The Power – Amazon Prime Video
John Leguizamo (Bloodline), Toheeb Jimoh (The Feed), Ria Zmitrowicz (Mr Selfridge), Eddie Marsan (Ray Donovan), Halle Bush, Heather Agyepong, Nico Hiraga (Ballers) and Daniela Vega (Tales of the City) have joined The Power, a 10-part thriller. An adaptation of the eponymous novel, the series follows a group of teenage girls who develop the power to electrocute people at will and have the ability to injure or even kill them with their fingertips. Gradually, they teach older women how to awaken this power. Women all over the world are gradually given this power and the world will change as a result. (Source)

Legacies – The CW
Legacies, the Vampire Diaries and The Originals spin-off, welcomes a new recurring character: Chad, a necromancer in his twenties. He will be played by Charles Jazz Terrier (Counter Play). (Source)

Tommy – CBS
The new CBS drama, Tommy, which began airing February 6, 2020, will feature Philip Anthony-Rodriguez (Grimm) as Rascal Santos, “a cautious, intelligent and dedicated deputy brigade commander” who works closely with Tommy (Edie Falco) when one of his operations is jeopardized.(Source)

Young Dylan – Nickelodeon
Nickelodeon has revealed the names of the actors who will work alongside young rapper Dylan Gilmer on the upcoming Young Dylan series. The cast will include Carl Anthony Payne II (Martin), Mieko Hillman (American Heiress), Celina Smith, Hero Hunter (The Purge) and Aloma Wright (Scrubs). The series will follow rising star Young Dylan (Dylan Gilmer) who is forced to move in with his uncle, Myles (Carl Anthony Payne II), and his wealthy family after his grandmother (Aloma Wright) realizes that it is too difficult for her to raise her grandson. (Source)

Lucifer – Netflix
Inbar Lavi will be in Lucifer’s Season 5 as EW revealed. Details about the number of episodes have not yet been revealed. (Source)

Severance – Apple TV+
Britt Lower (Future Man), Jen Tullock (Disengaged) and Zach Cherry (You) will be joining Adam Scott and Patricia Arquette in the Severance series currently being developed for Apple TV+. Severance will take place at Lumen Industries, a company that focuses on taking work-life balance to the next level. Britt Lower will play Helly, a woman who made the decision to go through the separation process, while Jen Tullock will play Devon, Mark’s (Adam Scott) sister. Zach Cherry will play one of Mark’s employees. (Source)

L.A. Mayor – NBC
Vella Lovell (Dollface) was chosen to play a regular character in the comedy produced by Tina Fey (30 Rock) and Robert Carlock (Great News) for NBC. The project will follow Ted Danson (The Good Place) in the role of a rich businessman who runs for mayor of Los Angeles for the wrong reasons. After winning, he must face the reality of the job while trying to earn the respect of his employees and reconnect with his daughter. Vella Lovell will play Mikaela, an ambitious politician, who, after leading the mayor’s campaign, becomes his executive assistant. (Source)

The Underground Railroad – Amazon Prime Video
Amazon Prime Video has announced an additional name for the adaptation of Colson Whitehead‘s bestseller The Underground Railroad. Lily Rabe (American Horror Story) will play Ethel Wells, Martin’s (Damon Herriman) wife. The series will follow Cora (Thuso Mbedu), a young slave girl working on a cotton plantation in Georgia who decides to escape with Caesar (Aaron Pierre) by following the Underground Railroad to the Free Northern States. The cast also includes Amber Gray, Chase W. Dillon (The First Wives Club) and William Jackson Harper (The Good Place). (Source)

Vigil – BBC One
BBC One’s new drama features Suranne Jones (Gentleman Jack), Rose Leslie (Game of Thrones), Shaun Evans (Endeavour), Anjli Mohindra (Bodyguard), Martin Compston (Line of Duty), Paterson Joseph (Timeless) , Connor Swindells (Sex Education), Adam James (Home from Home) and Gary Lewis (Outlander). Vigil will tell the story of how the disappearance of a Scottish trawler and a death inside a nuclear submarine involved in the Trident programme creates conflict between the police, the Royal Navy and the intelligence services. Rita – Showtime
Over the last few days, the cast of the drama Rita has grown considerably. Ten new actors have joined the series starring Lena Headey (Game of Thrones).

Josh Hutcherson (Hunger Games) will play Rita’s eldest son Ricco, a former bad boy, while Bryce Gangel (Crisis) will play April, his girlfriend. April’s parents, Tom and June, will be played by Darren Pettie (Sneaky Pete) and Betsy Brandt (Breaking Bad). Curtiss Cook (The Chi) will play the character of Spencer, the sensitive and professional principal of the school where Rita teaches. Paprika Steen (Okay) will play Ellen, a guidance counselor who runs the school empathetically. Isabella Crovetti (Colony) will play Rose, an overly ambitious student with whom Rita constantly disagrees. Glo Tavarez (Late Night) will play Connie, an enthusiastic new teacher, while Jade Payton (Dynasty) is Molly, Rita’s daughter who is trying to find her own way. In addition, Connor Falk (Diary of a Future President) will play Oliver, Rita’s youngest son. (Source)

9-1-1: Lone Star – Fox
Natalie Zea (The Detour) will be a recurring guest in the first season of 9-1-1: Lone Star. She will play a psychology professor from the University of Texas who meets Owen (Rob Lowe) in a beauty shop and with whom things immediately click. (Source)

Walker, Texas Ranger – The CW
Lindsey Morgan (The 100) will join the Walker, Texas Ranger remake with Jared Padalecki. She will play Cordell Walker’s (Jared Padalecki) new partner, a father of two who is returning home to Austin after spending two years undercover.(Source)

Daisy Jones & The Six – Amazon Prime Video
Sam Claflin (Hunger Games) has been chosen to play one of the main characters of the Daisy Jones & The Six series alongside Riley Keough (The Girlfriend Experience). He will play Billy Dune, the leader of The Six with whom Daisy (Riley Keough), a naturally gifted musician, will collaborate. The series will follow their rise, the problems caused by the fame and will review the reasons that led the band to break up. (Source)

thirtysomething(else) – ABC
thirtysomething(else), the potential sequel to thirtysomething, cast Chris Wood (Supergirl) as Leo Steadman, the son of Michael (Ken Olin) and Hope (Mel Harris). These two characters from the original series, as well as those played by Timothy Busfield and Patty Wettig, will all be back in what should follow the grown-up versions of the original characters. An American Pie reunion is coming up on FOX. Alyson Hannigan and Eddie Kaye Thomas will visit Jason Biggs in his new series Outmatched in which he plays the father of a number of gifted children. Alyson Hannigan and Eddie Kay Thomas will play the parents of another gifted child and befriend Mike (Jason Biggs) and Kay (Maggie Lawson). (Source)

DMZ – HBO
Benjamin Bratt (Star) will be joining Rosario Dawson in the DMZ series currently under production by HBO Max and based on the comics of Brian Wood and Riccardo Burchielli. He will portray Parco Delgado, the popular and deadly leader of a powerful demilitarized zone gang. (Source)

Coyote – Paramount Network
The Coyote series adds thirteen actors to its cast: Natalia Cordova-Buckley (Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.), Mark Feuerstein (Royal Pains), Kelli Williams (Lie to Me), Daniel Mora (The Bridge), Emy Mena, George Pullar (Playing for Keeps)Amy Forsyth (Rise), Ross Phillips (Hart of Dixie), Romina D’Ugo (King), Bobby Daniel Rodriguez (SEAL Team), Jose Pablo Cantillo (The Walking Dead) and Drew Powell (Gotham). Superman & Lois – The CW
The American network The CW has revealed the names of the actors who will play Jonathan and Jordan, Lois’ (Elizabeth Tulloch) and Clark’s (Tyler Hoechlin) twins in the series revolving around the famous DC couple. The former will be played by Jordan Elsass (Keepin’ It Weird TV) while the latter will be played by Alexander Garfin (The Peanuts Movie).(Source)
