The always well-informed Lady Whistledown, the storyteller of the successful series Bridgerton, has announced on social media that we have to say goodbye to the Duke of Hastings! Regé-Jean Page, real revelation of the first season, will not be part of season 2. The shooting will start this spring in London.

In a message posted on Twitter, Lady Whistledown addresses her loyal readers with these words: “Dear Readers, while all eyes turn to Lord Anthony Bridgerton’s quest to find a Viscountess, we bid adieu to Regé-Jean Page, who so triumphantly played the Duke of Hastings. We will miss Simon’s presence onscreen, but he will always be a part of the Bridgerton family. Daphne will remain a devoted wife and sister, helping her brother navigate the upcoming social season and what it has to offer – more intrigue and romance than my readers may be able to bear.”

Regé-Jean Page, who has been particularly popular since the release of the first season, said: “Pleasure and a privilege! An honour to be a member of the family – on and off screen, cast, crew and incredible fans – the love is real and will just keep growing.”

A few days ago, the actor was awarded at the NAACP Image Awards as best actor in a drama series for his role as the Duke of Hastings. We will soon find Regé-Jean Page in the cast of the film Dungeons and Dragons as well as in The Gray Man, the new production of the Russo brothers alongside Chris Evans, Ryan Gosling, Ana de Armas and Billy Bob Thornton.
