Fans of Harry Bosch will soon be able to discover the detective’s early days in Bosch: Start of Watch. This prequel to the crime series based on Michael Connelly’s novels will premiere with two episodes on January 10, 2027, on MGM+, followed by weekly episodes through February 21, 2027.

The eight-episode first season is set in 1992, when 26-year-old Harry Bosch begins his career with the Los Angeles Police Department. Cameron Monaghan (Gotham, Shameless) plays the younger version of the character, while Omari Hardwick (Power, The Line) portrays Eli Bridges, a seasoned officer with whom Bosch will partner.

Amid routine calls and mounting tensions in Los Angeles, Bosch finds himself entangled in a high-profile robbery case and a network of criminal corruption. This investigation will test his loyalty to the police and help shape the detective he will become.

The first season of Bosch: Start of Watch will also feature Ariana Guerra (CSI: Vegas) and JD Pardo (Mayans M.C.) among its regular cast members. Kathleen Wilhoite (Gilmore Girls), William Fichtner (Mom), Rafi Gavron (Godfather of Harlem), Raphael Sbarge (Once Upon a Time), Azita Ghanizada (Suits: L.A.), Kenneth Miller (Ransom Canyon), Seamus Dever (Castle), Ryan McPartlin (L.A.’s Finest), Marco Rodriguez (Kenny Powers), and Shelli Boone (All the Queen’s Men) have also been announced as part of the cast of this prequel.
