The red swimsuits are making a comeback on California’s beaches. FOX, the network behind the reboot of the cult 1990s series, has announced the premiere date for Baywatch, starring Stephen Amell (Arrow). Tune in on January 6, 2027, to see this new take on the adventures of the California lifeguards.

In this sequel, whose first season will consist of 12 episodes, Stephen Amell will play Hobie Buchannon, a character portrayed in the original series by Brandon Call from 1989 to 1990 and then by Jeremy Jackson from 1991 to 1999. Now captain of the lifeguards, Hobie’s daily life is turned upside down by the arrival of Charlie (Jessica Belkin), his daughter whom he has never met and who aspires to become a lifeguard alongside him.

The cast also includes Shay Mitchell (Pretty Little Liars), Brooks Nader, Hassie Harrison (Tacoma FD), Livvy Dunne, Noah Beck (Sidelined: The QB and Me), Thaddeus LaGrone, and David Chokachi. David Chokachi will reprise his role as Cody Madison, a character he previously played in the original series. Ashley Moore (I Know What You Did Last Summer), Luke Eisner (Timeline), Nadia Gray (All Rise), Kylar Miranda (Budz!), and Charlie McElveen (Clipped) have also been announced for the Baywatch cast.
