Following Tom Felton, another iconic actor from the Harry Potter films is set to reprise his role on Broadway. As announced on the official website for the play Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, Rupert Grint will once again step into the shoes of Ron Weasley in the coming months.
The actor, who was recently seen in the series Servant, will join the cast starting February 2, 2027. He will portray the character that made him famous until May 30, 2027, at the Lyric Theatre in New York. Unfortunately for fans of the series, Tom Felton and Rupert Grint are not expected to share the stage, as the actor who plays Draco Malfoy will give his final performance on January 3, 2027.
Fifteen years after the release of the last Harry Potter movie, Rupert Grint is excited to reprise the role of Ron Weasley. It’s a particularly symbolic return for the actor, who explains: “Ron Weasley has been a part of me since I was 11 years old and I can’t wait to meet him again in this stage of life. There is something so full-circle and so special about stepping back into Ron’s shoes now when we are both fathers; it is somehow both very familiar and completely new.”
He adds: “And the joy of being back on Broadway, this time in a role that defined so much of my life is truly exciting. The first time I saw Cursed Child onstage, I was blown away and I can’t wait to set foot back on platform 9 ¾ and pick up where I left off. I am overjoyed to join this exceptional cast and crew at the Lyric Theatre this winter.”
Harry Potter fans will have to wait a few more months, however, before they can see Rupert Grint as Ron Weasley again. They won’t have to wait quite as long to book their tickets, though. Tickets for the performances featuring the actor will go on sale starting September 1, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. ET for those registered for the presale via the play’s official website. The general public will be able to purchase tickets starting September 2, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. ET.
