Good Omens, initially planned as a mini-series and adaptation of the novel of the same name by Terry Pratchett and Neil Gaiman, will return for a second season of six episodes. The announcement was made this Tuesday by Amazon Prime on its social networks.

Michael Sheen, who plays the angel Aziraphale, and David Tennant, who plays the demon Crowley, will be back in their respective roles.

Neil Gaiman, who also is an executive producer on the series, revealed on his blog that this second season should use snippets of the sequel imagined by Terry Pratchett and himself 32 years earlier. A sequel that has never been published, the two writers have never been able to meet again to work on it: “It’s been thirty-one years since Good Omens was published, which means it’s thirty-two years since Terry Pratchett and I lay in our respective beds in a Seattle hotel room at a World Fantasy Convention, and plotted the sequel.”

In a statement, he adds: “Terry’s not here any longer, but when he was, we had talked about what we wanted to do with Good Omens, and where the story went next. And now, thanks to BBC Studios and Amazon, I get to take it there.”

The second season should soon begin production in Scotland, Neil Gaiman having mentioned that the sets are currently under construction.
