Alors qu’à Los Angeles se déroulait la 27e édition des Critics Choice Awards, à Londres, les stars du grand écran s’étaient donné rendez-vous pour la prestigieuse cérémonie des BAFTA.
Cette 75e édition a été l’occasion de voir The Power of the Dog, le long-métrage de Jane Campion, remporter le prix du meilleur film et de la meilleure réalisation. De bon augure pour la course aux Oscars 2022. Belfast, qui était aussi en course pour l’award du meilleur film et devra faire face à The Power of the Dog aux Oscars, obtient quant à lui le prix du meilleur film britannique.
Will Smith (King Richard), Ariana DeBose (West Side Story) et Troy Kotsur (CODA), qui sont aussi en lice pour un Oscar, sont de nouveau couronnés dans leurs catégories respectives comme c’est le cas dans quasiment toutes les cérémonies de récompenses de la saison.
Le film Dune, en tête des nominations, a de son côté obtenu cinq récompenses techniques et est donc le grand gagnant de la soirée puisqu’aucun autre film n’a obtenu plus de deux prix.
