The Russo family will soon be returning to the small screen, more than 10 years after the end of the Wizards of Waverly Place series. Let’s take a look.

Wizards of Waverly Place, one of Disney Channel’s flagship series of the late 2000s, is set to return to the U.S. network. According to Deadline, a sequel is in the works, with two of the original series’ stars producing: Davie Henrie and Selena Gomez, who played Justin and Alex Russo. In addition to producing, David Henrie will star in the new project. Selena Gomez is set to guest star in the pilot.

The sequel, currently titled Wizards, will focus on the now-adult Justin Russo, who gave up his powers to live a normal life with his wife and two sons. But when Billie, a powerful young witch, shows up on his doorstep to be trained, Justin must come to terms with his past to ensure the future of the wizarding world.

The young witch in question is played by Janice LeAnn Brown, seen in Growing Up Immigrant and Euphoria. Mimi Gianopulos (Rutherford Falls) will play Justin’s wife, Giada, while Alkaio Thiele (The Wingfeather Saga) will portray his eldest son, Roman.

If this Wizards of Waverly Place sequel gets past the pilot stage, will we get a chance to see other cast members from the original series, such as Jake T. Austin, Jennifer Stone, Maria Canals-Barrera and David DeLuise? We will find out in the next few months.
