Fans of crazy action will be happy to hear this: Twisted Metal is officially returning for a third season on Peacock. The streaming platform ordered a new chapter of the series, which is inspired by the popular video game franchise. They also announced a major change behind the scenes.
This renewal comes as no surprise; season two racked up 993 million minutes viewed on Peacock, making it the second most-watched original series on the streaming platform. This success confirms the public’s enthusiasm for the series’ explosive universe.

The cast, led by Anthony Mackie, Stephanie Beatriz, Joe Seanoa, and Will Arnett, will return. However, there will be a change in the creative team: David Reed is now taking the helm. David Reed, a writer and producer known for his work on The Boys, Star Trek: Strange New Worlds, The Magicians, Supernatural, and Revolution, is succeeding Michael Jonathan Smith as showrunner.
For those new to Twisted Metal, the series takes place in a post-apocalyptic world where ruthless survivors rule the roads. We follow John Doe (Anthony Mackie), a reckless delivery man who is tasked with traveling through these dangerous lands to complete high-risk missions. Along the way, he teams up with Quiet (Stephanie Beatriz), a tough survivor. Together, they face psychopathic criminals, armed factions, and the fearsome clown Sweet Tooth (played by Joe Seanoa and voiced by Will Arnett).
Over the course of the first two seasons, Twisted Metal combines action, dark humor, and chaotic motor races while laying the groundwork for the famous eponymous tournament—a ruthless competition where each driver fights for survival and a chance to change their destiny.
