After the show was canceled, a lot of discussions were started in order to find a new home for Timeless. Sadly, the creators’ effort were in vain and the best hope for the show is now in the hand of a potential movie which would bring the story to a close. However, nothing is certain about that either, talks are still ongoing but Shawn Ryan, co-creator of the show, doesn’t seem very optimistic.
Timeless, created by Eric Kirpke and Shawn Ryan, is a sci-fi TV show following the sory of a soldier named Wyatt Logan (Matt Lanter), an historian named Lucy Preston (Abigail Spencer) and a scientist named Rufus Carlin (Malcom Barrett), who are throwing themselves in a mission through time in order to stop Garcia Flynn (Goran Visnijic), a dangerous criminal who wants to have his revenge by changing History.
Even though season 2 ended on a big cliffhanger, the show was canceled and, despite Eric Kirpke and Shawn Ryan‘s effort, Timeless didn’t find a new platform ready to welcome the show for a third season. Sony Pictures Televisons then started negotiating with NBC in order to produce a 2 hours movie to properly end Timeless’ scenario. However, Shawn Ryan himself explained on his Twitter that «there are considerable economic obstacles that make it an uncertainty».
Despite the absence of a third season, we don’t know what the future of Timeless is made of and we are crossing our fingers, like most fans, that a movie will see the light of day. We’ll keep you updated, of course, but until then, don’t stop hoping that Timeless‘ story will have the conclusion that it truly deserves.
