After The Walking Dead last November, it’s the turn of Fear The Walking Dead to end its run on AMC. The American channel has just revealed that season 8 will be the final season of the series. The first six episodes will be available from May 14, 2023 while the last six will be broadcast later in the year.

According to the official synopsis, Season 8 will follow Morgan (Lennie James), Madison (Kim Dickens) and the others they brought to the island as they have to live under the rule of PADRE.  With the characters depressed, the responsibility of restoring faith in a better world falls on the person Morgan and Madison wanted to save in the first place: Morgan’s daughter Mo.

Dates for the new spin-offs of The Walking Dead

Originally scheduled for spring 2023, The Walking Dead: Dead City, starring Jeffrey Dean Morgan and Lauren Cohan, will finally be released in June on AMC. In this spin-off, we will follow Negan and Maggie in a post-apocalyptic Manhattan long cut off from the rest of the continent.

Another spin-off is expected in 2023 on AMC: The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon but at the moment, no exact date has been given. The series will focus on Daryl Dixon (Norman Reedus), a historical character of The Walking Dead, as he travels through France.

The latest spin-off currently in development, which will see the return of Andrew Lincoln and Danai Gurira as Rick and Michonne, will not be available until 2024.

Dan McDermott, president of entertainment and AMC Studios at AMC Networks, said he is particularly excited about the new chapter that is opening for the Walking Dead Universe: “It’s a truly exciting year for The Walking Dead Universe, as we conclude an epic journey on Fear the Walking Dead, which became one of the most successful shows in the history of cable television. And now we are set to bring forth the next iteration of the franchise […] This next phase of our beloved Walking Dead franchise promises to engage and enthrall faithful viewers. Fans new and old will love seeing zombies walking across the Brooklyn Bridge, beneath the Eiffel Tower, inside the Louvre, and at dozens more exotic and iconic locations from around the country and world.”
