The Last Kingdom: season 5 will be the last

The Last Kingdom, the adaptation of Bernard Cornwell‘s novels, will not return for a sixth season.

Indeed, Netflix and Carnival Films have announced that season 5 (10 episodes and currently in production) will be the last. It will be based on the ninth and tenth books of the saga created by Bernard Cornwell.

In a statement, Alexander Dreymon, lead actor of the series, said, “Playing Uhtred for 5 seasons has been a wonderful journey.” Nigel Merchant, executive producer of The Last Kingdom, added, “With such a loyal fanbase, we’re excited to give viewers a chance to follow Uhtred on the next stage of his epic quest, where not everyone survives.”

While waiting for the final episodes of The Last Kingdom, it is possible to watch the first four seasons on Netflix. In the cast, we find Eliza Butterworth (Aelswith), Ian Hart (Beocca), Arnas Fedaravicius (Sihtric), Millie Brady (Aethelflaed), Mark Rowley (Finan), Emily Cox (Brida), David Dawson (Alfred), Harry McEntire (Aethelwold), James Northcote (Aldhelm), Ewan Mitchell (Osferth), Adrian Bouchet (Steapa), Jeppe Back Laursen (Haesten), Toby Regbo (Aethelred) et Timothy Innes (Edward).
