Back in The Good Doctor after a five-year absence, Chuku Modu will be appearing in season 7 of ABC’s medical series, and the actor is even getting a promotion. We take a look.

Chuku Modu, who was a member of the cast of The Good Doctor when the series launched on ABC in 2017, had left the show a year later. His departure was explained by his character’s transfer to another hospital, following issues with his management.

Five years after his last appearance, Chuku Modu rejoined the cast of The Good Doctor in the episode “Old Friends”, which aired on ABC on March 5, 2023. In episode 15 of season 6, we learn that Jared Kalu has left his residency at Denver Memorial to become a billionaire’s personal physician. A decision he would come to regret as the episode progressed, leading him to request a return to St. Bonaventure’s surgical program. A return that would see Chuku Modu appear in six more episodes of season 6 of The Good Doctor, and be promoted to series regular for season 7.

As revealed by TVLine, the British actor will return full-time for Season 7, a decision that comes after The Good Doctor production had to deal with the departure of Hill Harper (Marcus Andrews), who is running for the U.S. Senate.

Season 7 of The Good Doctor is scheduled to premiere on Tuesday, February 20, 2024 on ABC.
