While he made a name for himself playing Nate Archibald on Gossip Girl, Chace Crawford has radically changed his style by joining the cast of the 2019 series The Boys, an adaptation of Garth Ennis’ comic books of the same name. He spoke briefly about the experience during a Q&A session at the XOXO Fan Meet convention on March 30-31, 2024.
While Season 4 is set to air on Prime Video next June, the actor, who plays The Deep, confirmed a fifth season for the Eric Kripke-created show. The actor also revealed that he will be back on set in the fall, and may have delivered some bad news to The Boys fans: “The season 4 airs in June 13th I think and then we go back in the fall to shoot season five, which will be the final season”.
Season 5 of The Boys, the final season of the series?
As Season 4 approaches, will fans of The Boys soon have to say goodbye to Eric Kripke‘s superheroes? Possibly, according to Chace Crawford, who confirmed the creator’s original plan to only run The Boys for five seasons.
However, in an interview with Inverse, Eric Kripke had indicated that he didn’t know what the future of the franchise would look like, using the example of Supernatural, which lasted much longer than he had imagined: “I have since realized that literally no one in history is worse at predicting the amount of seasons of a show, like literally. I have learned my lesson and I’ve stopped predicting how many seasons these shows go. You will find out in hindsight.” While we wait to find out if The Boys will indeed come to an end at the end of Season 5, fans of the franchise can rest assured: Prime Video won’t be abandoning this universe anytime soon. The streaming platform has ordered a second season of Gen V and is developing a second spin-off called The Boys: Mexico.
