Senna: Casting update for the Netflix series with Kaya Scodelario and Gabriel Leone

Netflix, which is developing a mini-series on the life of Ayrton Senna, has just unveiled the names of the actors and actresses taking part in this production, which is currently shooting.

To play the role of the three-time Formula 1 world champion, the Senna series team has called on Gabriel Leone, a Brazilian actor who will shortly be starring in the Enzo Ferrari biopic, in which he will play Alfonso de Portago, another Formula 1 figure. The Brazilian cast will be completed by Alice Wegmann (Órfãos da Terra), Camila Márdila (Amor de Mãe), Christian Malheiros (Sintonia), Gabriel Louchard (Rock Story), Hugo Bonemer (Malhação), Julia Foti (Brilhante F.C.), Marco Ricca (Órfãos da Terra), Pâmela Tomé (Orgulho e Paixão) and Susana Ribeiro (Lado a Lado).

The cast of the Senna series also includes Kaya Scodelario, best known for her role in The Maze Runner saga, Matt Mella (The Winter King), Arnaud Viard (By the Grace of God), Joe Hurst (Wanderlust), Johannes Heinrichs (Milk & Honey), Keisuke Hoashi (StartUp), Leon Ockenden (Coronation Street), Patrick Kennedy (Liaison), Richard Clothier (Warrior Nun), Steven Mackintosh (Lucky Man) and Tom Mannion (Emmerdale Farm). According to IMDB, Matt Mella will play Alain Prost, Steven Mackintosh will play Frank Williams and Joe Hurst will be Keith Sutton, a Formula 1 photographer.

Over the course of six episodes, the Senna series will look back at the personality and private life of the three-time F1 World Champion, tracing the trajectory of his triumphs, disappointments, joys and sorrows. The series begins at the beginning of Ayrton’s motorsport career, when he travels to Great Britain to compete in his first Formula Ford race, and ends with the tragic accident at Imola, Italy, during the San Marino Grand Prix.
