Sterling Archer’s fans will be pleased since Adam Reed’s spy will be back really soon. This comeback is supposed to happen in April. To be more precise, it’s on April 25th that you will be able to discover the 9th season called “Danger Island”.

Like it was announced last July, this new season will take place on Archer‘s mind since he’s still on a deep coma after the events of season 7. Therefore, we will not see the post-war New York that was the stage of “Dreamland” (Season 8). Instead, the action will take place on an island near French Polynesia during World War II.

During this 9th season, Sterling Archer (H. Jon Benjamin) will give up on spying to assume the role of a pilot, with his co-pilot Pam (Amber Nash). Malory Archer (Jessica Walter) will be running an hotel and Lana (Aisha Tyler) will have the part of a princess named Lanaluakalalani. Cheryl/Carol (Judy Greer) will become Charlotte Vandertunt, an heiress who’s on the island for her honeymoon and who sleeps with Archer. Cyril Figiss (Chris Parnell) will be Siegbert Fuchsthe, a German spy who plays the role of a fruit exporter and Ray Gillette (Adam Reed) will be a French captain named Reynaud during season 9. Apparently, Krieger will not be included on this season but his voice actor, Lucky Yates, will be doing the voice of Archer’s parrot named Crackers.

During Comic-Con 2017, the show’s executive producer, Matt Thompson, announced that “Last season, we loved it, but things got pretty dark, pretty fast,” said Thompson. “And [Archer creator] Adam Reed had talked about just doing something that’s fun and just having a blast with this season. So we basically stuck all these people on this tiny volcanic island, and we’re just going to have as much as fun as we can, with quicksand, cannibals, super-intelligent monkeys, and a volcano, and a talking f**king parrot”. It’s a synopsis that seems to promise a lot of adventures for our favourite alcoholic spy and lady-killer.
