Are you a fan of the Outlander and Poldark series? If so, good news for you: Sam Heughan, who plays Jamie Fraser in Outlander, and Eleanor Tomlinson, the actress who plays Demelza in Poldark, will be reunited in The Couple Next Door. They will be joined by Alfred Enoch (How To Get Away With Murder) and Jessica De Gouw (The Secret She Keeps).
Based on the Dutch series New Neighbours, The Couple Next Door will follow Evie (Eleanor Tomlinson) and Pete (Alfred Enoch) as they move into an upscale neighborhood where status is an issue. They befriend Danny (Sam Heughan), a traffic cop, and his wife Becka (Jessica De Gouw), a glamorous yoga instructor. But after Danny and Evie spend a night together, the trouble begins.
The series, described as a psychologically dark thriller about the consequences of fulfilling our darkest desires, will air on Starz in the US and Channel 4 in the UK. Sam Heughan said he was delighted to be working with Starz on a third series after Outlander and Men in Kilts.
If no release date has been revealed for the moment, TVInsider informs us that the shooting of The Couple Next Door has started in Leeds and in Belgium. Dries Vos (Suspect) is directing, while the scripts are written by David Allison (Bedlam).
