National Treasure: Catherine Zeta-Jones joins the cast of the Disney+ series

Catherine Zeta-Jones has just signed for a new project on TV. After Feud, Queen America, Prodigal Son and soon Wednesday on Netflix, the British actress will play in the series National Treasure for Disney+.

Spin-off series from the movie franchise of the same name, National Treasure will follow Jess (Lisette Alexis), a brilliant and resourceful young woman who embarks on the adventure of a lifetime to uncover the truth about her family’s mysterious past and to find a lost Pan-American treasure.

The project, which is set to begin production in February, stars Catherine Zeta-Jones as Billie, a hard-boiled billionaire, black market antiques expert and treasure hunter who lives by her own rules. Billie is used to getting whatever she wants, and she wants the Pan-American treasure Jess is after.

Rick Muirragui (Suits) will write the script for the series National Treasure while Mira Nair (A Suitable Boy) will direct. The cast also includes Zuri Reed (Flatbush Misdemeanors), Jordan Rodrigues (The Fosters), Antonio Cipriano (The Sex Lives of College Girls), Jake Austin Walker (Rectify) and Lyndon Smith (Parenthood).
