20 years after its final episode aired, Buffy the Vampire Slayer remains a show that has touched an entire generation, and fans of the show will soon have the opportunity to experience new adventures in the company of some of the original cast members.

As revealed by EW, James Marsters (Spike), Charisma Carpenter (Cordelia), Anthony Head (Giles), Juliet Landau (Drusilla), Emma Caulfield (Anya), Amber Benson (Tara), James Charles Leary (Clement) and Danny Strong (Jonathan) will reunite for an audio series commissioned by Audible. They will be joined by a newcomer: Laya DeLeon Hayes, currently known for her role as Delilah in The Equalizer.

Titled Slayers: A Buffyverse Story, the audio series is set 20 years after the events of the final episode of Buffy the Vampire Slayer, and begins with Spike infiltrating the forces of evil in Los Angeles, pretending he’s gone over to the wrong side once again. When his cover is blown by 16-year-old Indira Nunnally (Laya DeLeon Hayes), Spike must once again play babysitter. While trying to find a watcher for his new protégé, they cross paths with a veteran Slayer from a parallel reality where Buffy Summers (Sarah Michelle Gellar) never existed. The one and only Slayer is Cordelia, and she needs Spike’s help to fight a formidable adversary terrorizing her world: Drusilla.

Buffy the Vampire Slayer fans are eagerly awaiting the release of this new adventure, but they’re not the only ones. James Marsters also shared his excitement: “I’m ecstatic to be back with my dear friends for this next chapter in the Buffyverse, as we take listeners on a familiar but unexpected journey chock full of horror, passion and mischief. I’m excited for old and new fans to experience this beloved world of vampire slaying like never before, brought to life through immersive audio storytelling.”

The audio series, Slayers: A Buffyverse Story, co-written by Amber Benson and Christopher Golden, will be available on Audible on October 12, 2023. Note that the cast will be at New York Comic Con 2023 on October 13th for a one-hour panel (1:30-2:30 pm) to talk about this new adventure. As for French fans, you’ll be able to meet some of the Buffy the Vampire Slayer cast at the Slay the Vampires 5: One Last Time convention organized by CloudsCon on November 18 and 19.
