For those unfamiliar with the ATX Festival, it is an event that “brings together fans and industry to celebrate the television medium by looking at its history, where it is now, and where it is headed” according to the event’s website.
And during the ATX TV Festival, which takes place this year from June 1-4, Justified: City Primeval will be one of the highlights with its world premiere screening. A panel with the cast and creators of Outlander, another one about Dawson’s Creek, a screening of Everyone Is Doing Great and a conversation with Jim Borrow (Friends, Cheers) are also on the agenda.
Justified: City Primeval
The eight-episode limited series from showrunners/executive producers Dave Andron and Michael Dinner will open Season 12 of the ATX TV Festival. Airing on FX, Justified: City Primeval is based on the novel City Primeval: High Noon in Detroit and picks up 15 years after U.S. Marshal Raylan Givens (Timothy Olyphant) left the hollers of Kentucky on FX’s Justified. The cast also includes Aunjanue Ellis, Boyd Holbrook, Adelaide Clemens, Vondie Curtis Hall, Vivian Olyphant and Marin Ireland. The screening will be followed by a conversation with the creative team and the cast. Justified: City Primeval premieres this summer on FX.
Dawson’s Creek
Celebrating the 25th anniversary of Dawson’s Creek, the event will feature a screening and conversation. The pilot episode will be screened, followed by a look back at the iconic teen drama with the creators behind the series. Writers/producers Liz Tigelaar, Rina Mimoun, Gina Fattore, Anna Fricke, Maggie Friedman and host Julie Plec (The Vampire Diaries, The Originals) will participate in the panel. Additional panelists will be announced by ATX TV in the near future.
Outlander
On June 1, there will be a conversation with the cast and creators of Outlander, including a first look at the seventh (and final) season, which returns to Starz on June 16. We’ll have to wait and see if stars Caitriona Balfe and Sam Heughan will attend, as the panelists have not yet been announced.
Everyone Is Doing Great
Another highly anticipated moment: the world premiere of Season 2 of Everyone Is Doing Great, followed by a conversation with the creatives and cast. Attending: James Lafferty (One Tree Hill), Stephen Colletti (One Tree Hill), Alexandra Park (The Royals) and Cariba Heine (H20: Just Add Water).
James Burrows
The man behind Friends, Cheers (a celebration of the 30th anniversary of the show’s finale will take place during the festival), Taxi, Frasier, Will & Grace… will receive the “Achievement in Television eXcellence” award. Jim Burrows will attend for a conversation.
