Peter Pan is still going strong at Disney. 70 years after the release of the animated film, the famous character created by J.M. Barrie at the beginning of the 20th century will be the subject of a new adaptation by the studio.

This new live-action version of Peter Pan will be directed by David Lowery (Pete’s Dragon) and is made to honor “both the original J.M. Barrie text and Walt Disney’s animated adaptation,” according to a press release from the director.

Titled Peter Pan & Wendy, the movie will follow the encounter between Wendy (Ever Anderson), a young girl afraid to leave her childhood home behind, and Peter Pan (Alexander Molony), a boy who refuses to grow up. Alongside her brothers John (Joshua Pickering) and Michael (Jacobi Jupe), Peter Pan and Tinkerbell (Yara Shahidi), she travels to the magical world of Neverland. There, Wendy encounters an evil pirate captain, Captain Hook (Jude Law) and embarks on a thrilling and dangerous adventure that will change her life forever.

An adventure that is partially revealed in a first trailer available below. The rest will be available on Disney+ on April 28, 2023.
