The Crawley family will soon be back in movie theaters to the delight of Downton Abbey fans. After earning over $200 million at the box office with the first film, Focus Features has confirmed a sequel that should be in movie theaters by Christmas.
The main characters of the series will be back for this second movie and they will be joined by four new ones: Hugh Dancy (Hannibal), Dominic West (The Crown), Laura Haddock (Da Vinci’s Demons) and the French actress Nathalie Baye. Their roles are being held under wraps, as are the plot details of the new film.
Julian Fellowes, creator of the series, will again be in charge of the script, while Gareth Neame and Liz Trubridge will again act as producers. Simon Curtis (Woman in Gold, My Week with Marilyn) will direct.
