The rumor has been circulating in the American media for several days, and it has just been confirmed by HBO Max through a 40-second trailer. Harry Potter, the famous wizard, will leave the big screen for a series reboot on the streaming platform. And the least we can say is that HBO Max and Warner Bros. Discovery are seeing things in a big way since David Zaslav, president of the group, announced that the Harry Potter series will be on the air for ten years.

To reassure fans who are particularly attached to the films and the original cast, the streaming platform promises a faithful adaptation of JK Rowling‘s books. A criterion that seems to have convinced the author, as she indicates in a statement: “Max’s commitment to preserving the integrity of my books is important to me, and I’m looking forward to being part of this new adaptation which will allow for a degree of depth and detail only afforded by a long form television series.”
Casey Bloys, Chairman and CEO, HBO & Max Content, also expressed his enthusiasm for the new project: “We are delighted to give audiences the opportunity to discover Hogwarts in a whole new way. Harry Potter is a cultural phenomenon and it is clear there is such an enduring love and thirst for the Wizarding World. In partnership with Warner Bros. Television and J.K. Rowling, this new Max Original series will dive deep into each of the iconic books that fans have continued to enjoy for all of these years.”
If we know that this adaptation of Harry Potter will be carried by a brand new cast, no name has yet filtered from Warner Bros. Discovery regarding the interpreters of the famous trio formed by Harry Potter, Hermione Granger and Ron Weasley. We will probably have to be patient before knowing the identity of the actors and actresses chosen for the Harry Potter series, as HBO Max is just starting to look for a showrunner to oversee the whole project.
