From March 17-19, 2023, fans of 90s TV shows gathered in Hartford, Connecticut, for the second edition of the 90s Con. An event that brought together actors and actresses from Beverly Hills, Full House, Clueless, All That, and Sabrina, the Teenage Witch, among others. But the 90s Con was also the occasion for a reunion of the cast of Charmed. To celebrate the 25th anniversary of the show, the organizers invited Holly Marie Combs (Piper), Rose McGowan (Paige, seasons 4 to 8), Shannen Doherty (Prue, seasons 1 to 3), Brian Kause (Leo), Drew Fuller (Chris) and Dorian Gregory (Darryl).

Gathered for a panel, the cast of the original series were asked, without much surprise, about the reboot of Charmed airing between 2018 and 2022 on the CW. If we know that Holly Marie Combs did not like the marketing used to promote the series, and that Rose McGowan is against the very principle of the reboot, Shannen Doherty, for her part, was keen to give her support to this other version of Charmed.

While the 2018 series was booed by fans during a Q&A, the actress who played Prue Halliwell in the original series said, “Not cool. Don’t boo to people who supply literally hundreds and hundreds of people with their job.” Shannen Doherty then pointed out that the reboot allowed a new generation to bond, just as the fans of the original version did. She added, “It may be for all of us to be like ‘Well, it would be nice to be asked to be on the show,’ but you know […], I applaud them for supplying a lot of jobs. And they’re incredibly nice people, FYI.”
