The Charmed reunion organized during the 33rd edition of the Paris Manga & Sci-Fi Show was undoubtedly one of the most anticipated moments of the festival. Indeed, many fans had gathered in the French capital to attend the panels of Brian Krause (Leo), Drew Fuller (Chris), Shannen Doherty (Prue), Rose McGowan (Paige) and Holly Marie Combs (Piper) to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the series.
It was also the occasion to talk about one of the most important moments of Charmed: the departure of Shannen Doherty and the death of her character Prue at the end of season 3. If the actress did not want to return to the reasons of this departure, indicating that she will talk about this subject in her next podcast, Holly Marie Combs shared what she felt at that time and especially during the first episode of season 4: “I wasn’t happy with her departure and the writers thought that they could give me this sort of cathartic moment. So, there was my moment. It was pretty transparent.”
After the death of Prue, the writers decided to revive the power of the three by introducing the character of Paige, played by Rose McGowan. An actress that Shannen Doherty had a real crush on and a real friendship with. She also thinks that their characters would have gotten along beautifully and that their meeting would have added a lot to the show if it had happened. A sentiment shared by Rose McGowan, who adds that with their powers together, they could have exploded the universe of magic. And you, would you like to see them together on screen?
