At CinemaCon, the show for the film industry, Sony revealed some information about its upcoming productions. Let’s take a look.

CinemaCon, a key event for the film industry in the United States, is the opportunity for studios to present their line-up for the coming months and years and Sony is no exception to the rule.

First studio to go on stage, Sony took the opportunity to present new images of Bullet Train, its action comedy starring Brad Pitt, Joey King and Aaron Taylor-Johnson. New images that have been rather well received if we believe the various feedbacks from the American media.

The presentation of the studio also allowed us to have a glimpse of two other productions expected in movie theaters by the end of the year: The Woman King with Viola Davis in the lead and Where The Crawdads Sing with Daisy Edgard-Jones.

Venom and Ghostbusters back in theaters

The evening was then marked by several announcements. The studio said that Venom would come back for a third movie. Despite very bad reviews, the franchise is doing quite well at the box office and Sony decided to offer new adventures to Eddie Brock and his symbiote. No name has been confirmed for this sequel but it’s hard to imagine it without Tom Hardy.

Ghostbusters will also be back on the big screen for a new opus. After the “success” of Ghostbusters: Afterlife directed by Jason Reitman, Sony decided to go back to the hunt for ghosts. Based on the post-generic scene included in Ghostbusters: Afterlife, this new movie could take place in New York with one of the historical members.

Finally, the studio revealed the official title of the 3rd animated Spider-Verse film. After Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse (2018) and Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse (2023), this third film will be called Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse. However, we will have to be patient before discovering it, as it will not be in theaters before 2024.
