Ivan Reitman, director of the first two Ghostbusters films, died this Saturday, February 12, 2022 at the age of 75.
In a statement, his family is “grieving the unexpected loss of a husband, father, and grandfather who taught us to always seek the magic in life.” His family adds: “we take comfort that his work as a filmmaker brought laughter and happiness to countless others around the world. While we mourn privately, we hope those who knew him through his films will remember him always.”
Mostly known as the director of the Ghostbusters movies, Ivan Reitman was also behind the camera for the comedies Twins, Kindergarten Cop, Evolution and Sex Friends.
A prolific producer, he was involved in projects such as American College, Beethoven, Heavy Metal, Space Jam, Mummies Alive!, I Love You man, Hitchcok and In the Air. He was also connected to the female version of Ghostbusters released in 2016 and the recent Ghostbusters: Afterlife directed by his son Jason Reitman.
