“It’s with great sadness and a heavy heart that we have to write that Verne died today. Verne was an extremely considerate person. He wanted to make everyone smile, be happy and laugh. He wanted to help, as much as possible, every person in need.” That’s the words used by Verne Troyer‘s family to announce his death, at the age of 49, in an Instagram post.

The actor started his career as an understudy in Baby’s Day Off in 1994. He was more widely known for his role of Mini-Me in the Austin Powers, with Mike Myers who payed him a tribute. “Verne was an accomplished professional and a beacon of positivity for those of us who had the honor to work with him” declared Myers, “It’s a sad day but I hope he’s in a better place. He will be dearly missed.”

Verne Troyer fought against depression and alcohol addiction in the past. He was hospitalized for several weeks. The report remind us that “depression and suicide are really serious issues. You never know what kind of inner struggle burdens a person. Be good with each others. And know that it’s never too late to ask someone for help.”

Instead of flowers, the family asked for the fans to donate to 2 organizations dear to Verne Troyer : The Starkey Hearing Foundation and Best Buddies.
