Les nommés pour l’édition 2021 des MTV Movie & TV Awards sont connus et à ce petit jeu, c’est WandaVision qui s’en sort le mieux. La série Marvel, diffusée début 2021 sur Disney+, obtient cinq nominations dont celles de meilleure série et meilleure performance dans une série (Elizabeth Olsen).
Le podium des nominations est complété par The Boys, la série irrévérencieuse de super-héros d’Amazon Prime Video, et Emily in Paris, décriée pour véhiculer de nombreux clichés. Chacune de ces séries sont citées à quatre reprises et concourront notamment pour le prix de la meilleure série.
Côté ciné, c’est le film Borat Subsequent Moviefilm qui obtient le plus de nominations (3) devant Promising Young Woman (2) et Judas and the Black Messiah (2). A noter que Chadwick Boseman est de nouveau en lice à titre posthume pour obtenir un award pour sa prestation dans Le blues de Ma Rainey.
