A new actor has joined the cast of the God of War series, an adaptation of the video game franchise of the same name. A few weeks after the first names were officially announced—including Ryan Hurst (Sons of Anarchy) as Kratos and Callum Vinson (Long Bright River) as Atreus—Prime Video has revealed the identity of the actor who will play Baldur.
The youngest son of Odin (Mandy Patinkin) and the Norse god’s most formidable weapon will be played by Ed Skrein. The actor is best known for his roles in Rebel Moon, Jurassic World: Dominion, and Deadpool. Described as a fighter who is as charismatic as he is unpredictable, Baldur was cursed in his childhood, depriving him of all physical sensation. Since then, he has been consumed by uncontrollable rage and longs for only one thing: to face an opponent capable of standing up to him… and, perhaps, finally making him feel something.
As a reminder, the God of War series—already guaranteed two seasons—will follow Kratos and his son Atreus on a journey to scatter the ashes of Faye, his late wife and mother. Throughout this journey, Kratos will try to teach his son how to become a better god, while Atreus will seek to help his father gradually become more human again.
At the time of writing, no release date has been announced by Prime Video.
