A few weeks before its release, a trailer was revealed for Last Samurai Standing, an adaptation of Shogo Imamura‘s Ikusagami novels. The trailer plunges us into a bloody battle royale in the heart of Kyoto.
A merciless struggle for survival
In this new six-episode Netflix series, 292 warriors gather at Tenryuji Temple and are given a simple wooden badge. Their mission? Steal their opponents’ badges and make it to Tokyo to win a huge prize. In this ruthless arena, any means to win are acceptable: bows, daggers, swords, ruses, or brute force. Each fighter deploys their own strategies in a state of total chaos where the slightest mistake can be fatal.
Junichi Okada, the lead actor and producer of Last Samurai Standing, says he wanted to create “a world where you can’t help but wonder who will survive and how the game will unfold.” Judging by the images revealed in the trailer, he has certainly delivered on that promise.
Expected on Netflix from November 13, 2025, the series
Last Samurai Standing will feature
Hiroshi Abe, Yumia Fujisaki,
Masahiro Higashide, Kazunari
Ninomiya, and Takayuki Yamada.
