The 25th annual Critics’ Choice Awards ceremony was held last Sunday, January 12, 2020 in Los Angeles. For this special event, the Broadcast Film Critics Association, the largest association of critics in North America, awarded the best of television. Who received an award? Let’s find out.

Just like at the Golden Globes, Succession and Fleabag were awarded for Best Drama Series and Best Comedy Series. Fleabag‘s lead actress Phoebe Waller-Bridge has had a double success herself, as she was awarded the title of best actress in a comedy series. Andew Scott, also starring in the Amazon Prime comedy, won the award for Best Supporting Actor in a Comedy.

Though Brian Cox won the Golden Globes for Best Actor in a Drama Series for his performance in Succession, it was his co-star Jeremy Strong who won the Critics’ Choice Awards in the same category. Watchmen is not far behind, as the HBO series won two awards thanks to the performances of Regina King (Best Actress in a Drama Series) and Jean Smart (Best Supporting Actress in a Drama Series).

In the categories reserved for mini-series and TV movies, Netflix won three awards: Best Limited Series (When They See Us), Best Movie Made for Television (El Camino: A Breaking Bad Movie) and Best Actor in a Limited Series or Movie Made for Television (Jharrel Jerome). For his part, Stellan Skarsgård, already awarded at the Golden Globes for his performance in Chernobyl, went home with the award for best supporting actor in a Limited Series or Movie Made for Television.
