The evil Chucky doll will no longer haunt Syfy and USA Network. In fact, the series from Don Mancini, the iconic screenwriter of the Chucky franchise, has been canceled by the two American networks after three seasons.
In a statement, Don Mancini, who also wrote three movies in the Chucky saga, said: “I’m heartbroken over the news that ‘Chucky’ won’t be coming back for a fourth season, but am so grateful for the killer three years we did have. I’d like to thank UCP/SYFY/Peacock/Eat the Cat, our awesome cast and Toronto-based crew (the best in the business), and finally, to our amazing fans, a big bloody hug. Your incredible #RenewChucky campaign really warmed Chucky’s cold heart. Chucky will return! He ALWAYS comes back.”
Set in 2021, the series takes place in Hackensack, an idyllic American town that is plunged into chaos after a series of horrific murders begin following the discovery of a vintage Chucky doll. As the murders expose the lies and hypocrisy that reign in Hackensack, enemies and allies from Chucky’s past arrive in town, threatening to reveal the truth behind the murders as we learn more about the origins of the demonic doll.
The cast includes Zackary Arthur (Transparent), Teo Briones (Ratched), Alyvia Alyn Lind (Daybreak) and Björgvin Arnarson (The Seventh Day), Brad Dourif, the iconic voice of Chucky, and Devon Sawa (Final Destination).
