Jared Padalecki and Leighton Meester, two iconic figures of the small screen, will soon share the spotlight in Netflix’s The Bodyguard. This new romantic comedy, adapted from Katherine Center‘s novel of the same name, should not be confused with the 1992 cult film of the same name starring Kevin Costner and Whitney Houston.
Directed by Elizabeth Allen Rosenbaum (Relationship Status), the film stars Jared Padalecki as an actor being stalked. Leighton Meester plays his bodyguard and must even pretend to be his girlfriend when he returns home for the holidays to reassure his family.
Leighton Meester is best known for her iconic role as Blair Waldorf in Gossip Girl. She recently starred in The Buccaneers on Apple TV+ and has also appeared in Single Parents, How I Met Your Father, and Good Cop/Bad Cop. Jared Padalecki is famous for his role as Sam Winchester in Supernatural and will soon appear in the final season of The Boys, reuniting with his former co-star, Jensen Ackles. Jared Padalecki is also known for his roles in Walker, Gilmore Girls, and Fire Country.
Filming for The Bodyguard will begin in December in Canada. Netflix has not yet announced the release date or the rest of the cast.
