Leatherface returns on February 18, 2022 in a new movie for Netflix. Presented as a direct sequel to Tobe Hooper‘s cult movie released in 1974, Texas Chainsaw Massacre will disregard the many sequels made since and will confront the famous killer with the only survivor of the first movie: Sally Hardesty. A script that reminds us of the film Halloween released in 2018 and which relaunched the eponymous franchise.
The trailer released by Netflix shows us that Leatherface (Mark Burnham) will return to duty after a group of influencers decided to breathe new life into the ghost town of Harlow. An idea that will quickly backfire on them. To help them survive, they will be able to count on Sally Hardesty, determined to fight the man who ruined her life 50 years ago. The role will be played this time by Olwen Fouéré (The Survivalist), Marilyn Burns, the actress who played the role in the first movie having passed away in 2014.
In Texas Chainsaw Massacre, which has had many production problems including the replacement of directors Ryan and Andy Tohill by David Blue Garcia, we can also find Sarah Yarkin (Motherland: Fort Salem), Elsie Fisher (Castle Rock), Jacob Latimore (The Chi) and Nell Hudson (Victoria).
