Scrubs, Grey’s Anatomy, 9-1-1… A look at ABC’s 2026–2027 lineup

For the 2026–2027 season, ABC has decided to stick with all of its shows from last season and will introduce just one new series: The Rookie: North, the spin-off of The Rookie.

However, the American network’s fall lineup has a major surprise in store. ABC has decided to sit out its number-one series, High Potential, and save it for midseason. Its Tuesday night slot will thus go to R.J. Decker, which will launch its second season during that time.

Meanwhile, Scrubs, whose return to ABC has captivated audiences more than 15 years after its final episode, will take over the Wednesday night slot previously held by Shifting Gears. The comedy starring Tim Allen and Kat Dennings is also being saved for the midseason.

The rest of the schedule will remain unchanged, and Thursday nights will once again be dedicated to 9-1-1, 9-1-1: Nashville, and the network’s long-running series, Grey’s Anatomy.

It’s worth noting that in addition to High Potential and Shifting Gears, ABC has also chosen to schedule The Rookie, Will Trent, and The Rookie: North for the midseason.

What are ABC’s new series for the 2025–2026 season?

The Rookie: North

This spin-off of The Rookie will follow Alex Holland, played by Jay Ellis, a man whose life is turned upside down after a violent home invasion. This event awakens a late-blooming calling in him: he decides to leave everything behind to join the Pierce County Police Department, becoming the department’s oldest recruit. Tasked with maintaining law and order in areas ranging from urban zones to rural forests—where backup can sometimes take a while to arrive—Alex will have to prove to his skeptical training officer, his fellow recruits, and himself that he has finally found a cause worth fighting for.

The cast will also include Janet Montgomery (New Amsterdam), Karen Fukuhara (The Boys), Chris Sullivan (This is Us), Froy Gutierrez (Cruel Summer), Mya Lowe (My Life with the Walter Boys), and Malik Watson.
