After several months in development, Netflix has officially announced the start of production for Grand Galaxy Hotel, a romantic, mysterious, and fantastical series starring Lee Do-hyun (Sweet Home), Shin Si-a (Resident Playbook), Lee Soo-hyuk (Queen Woo), and Lee Su-hyun (Family Matters).
The Grand Galaxy Hotel is unlike any other hotel. Open only in the middle of the night, it welcomes the souls of the deceased, offering them comfort and serenity before their final journey. Eun-ha (Lee Do-hyun) is the new owner of this timeless place, and he has a past as dark as it is mysterious. Upon his arrival, Eun-ha crosses paths with Sang-soon (Shin Si-a), the hotel’s only human employee. She is known for her kindness and fearlessness in the face of spirits. They will also interact with Baek-gi (Lee Soo-hyuk), a free-spirited grim reaper who cleans up the remnants of evil spirits, and Seok-san (Lee Su-hyun), an enigmatic woman whose aura is as disturbing as it is dangerous.
It’s hard not to think of the K-drama Hotel del Luna when reading the synopsis of Grand Galaxy Hotel—and for good reason: the same creative team is behind this new production. Director Oh Choong-hwan and writers Hong Jung-eun and Hong Mi-ran are collaborating with Lee Do-hyun once again, having previously worked together on Hotel del Luna. Fans are sure to be curious: Could Eun-ha be linked to the character played by the actor in Hotel del Luna?
