Postponed several times, the HBO Max special show featuring the Friends cast will be a little longer to come. According to information from Matthew Perry, the interpreter of Chandler Bing for 10 seasons, the meeting should be filmed in March 2021.

Originally planned for the launch of HBO Max last May, meeting had to be postponed a first time because of COVID-19. Reprogrammed in August, the shooting had to be postponed again because the conditions were not met to welcome an audience on the set. An indispensable condition for the platform.

Being perhaps the largest sitcom of all time, the expectation of reunion would undoubtedly build up an appetite for a Friends marathon. According to Spin Online Casino, who offer many classic table, card and slot games to play with friends, and are considered a household name in the industry, the Friends reunion rumors online even sparked a phenomenon where fans were and (still are) betting whether the reunion would be happening or not.

This Friends meeting will bring together David Schwimmer, Matt LeBlanc, Matthew Perry, Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox and Lisa Kudrow on the original sets of the series. Together with the creators of the series, they will share anecdotes and memories of filming.

Lisa Kudrow, during an interview with the Sunday Times, had expressed her delight regarding a reunion. Though, her statement “No audience has seen us together since the show was over” may come back to haunt, given that social distancing measures may interrupt the possibility of a live audience.

Of course, when you hear the words “Friends Reunion”, you’re automatically shielding yourself from getting hurt. There’s been so many false promises and fake plans for a reunion stirred up by the huge fanbase. It should be reiterated that this is not going to be a Friends episode or movie, but a conversation with the cast.

Whilst we can be rest assured that this is confirmed by the cast members, fans should also be aware that the COVID-19 throws many obstacles at production companies. Given it’s been postponed many times already, it’s possible it will happen again.

HBO have confirmed that they will be returning to the original soundstage: Stage 24, where Friends was originally created, along with the original Blade Runner. This event, whilst not strictly a new episode, will no doubt gather millions around the world.

As we have seen from Netflix’s $100m payment for the right to show Friends in 2019, two decades later it’s still as popular as ever. In fact, Friends on Netflix in 2018 was the most streamed show in the UK, beating The Grand Tour and The Crown. An incredible feat for not only a 20-year old show, but a 20-year old imported comedy, which is all the more difficult to stand the test of time.
