Guests of Paris Manga & Sci-Fi Show 30, Michael Shanks, the actor who played Daniel Jackson in Stargate SG-1, and Joe Flanigan, the actor who played John Sheppard in Stargate: Atlantis, talked about the future of the franchise during their group panel.

For Joe Flanigan, a Stargate reboot seems inevitable: “How? When? It’s hard to know. It’s rather incredible that there isn’t a Stargate right now considering all the stuff they’re recycling.” He adds, “It will happen. He (Michael) and I may be in wheelchairs but it will happen.”

Michael Shanks recalls that MGM, the studio behind the series, was bought by Amazon and according to him, “there is no question that some version of Stargate will get made.” However, he doesn’t know if they will be involved or how it will be done if it ever happens. He adds, “I know that Brad Wright is trying to develop another show but we’ll have to wait and see what they do.”

And you, are you waiting for a return of the Stargate franchise on TV?
