Peacock, NBCUniversal’s streaming platform, has released new trailers for two of its series: Saved by the Bell and A.P. Bio.

Saved by the Bell is a revival of the iconic eponymous series from the early 1990s and will follow a new generation of Bayside High School students. The series will feature familiar faces as Mario Lopez (A.C. Slater), Elizabeth Berkley (Jessica Spano) and Mark-Paul Gosselaar (Zach Morris) will be included in the revival. Peacock plays the nostalgia card in the trailer by making reference to a memorable plot from the original series involving caffeine pills.

Peacock has not yet announced a release date. Joining the cast will be Dexter Darden (The Maze Runner), John Michael Higgins (Pitch Perfect), Mitchell Hoog (Roswell, New Mexico), Alycis Pascual-Pena (Chase), Josie Totah (Champions) and Belmont Cameli.

A.P. Bio, cancelled by NBC and rescued by Peacock, will start its third season on the NBCUniversal streaming platform. To celebrate the return of the series on September 3rd, Peacock has released a new trailer that promises a “wilder” and “weirder” season. Glenn Howerton (It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia), Patton Oswalt (Veep), Mary Sohn (Work in Progress), Lyric Lewis (Baskets), Jean Villepique (Up All Night) and Paula Pell (Big Mouth) will be back for these new episodes.

McGruber: the MacGyver parody has been commissioned by Peacock

Nearly 10 years after the release of the MacGruber movie, the character originally created for the sketches of the Saturday Night Live show is about to come back to the limelight. In fact, Peacock has decided to commission an eight-episode season of this MacGyver parody series. Will Forte, who recently starred in The Last Man on Earth, will be back in his role as MacGruber. He will also be serving as writer and executive producer alongside Lorne Michaels, John Solomon et Jorma Taccone.

Concerning the screenplay, Peacock said “After rotting in prison for over a decade, America’s ultimate hero and uber patriot MacGruber (Forte) is finally released. His mission: to take down a mysterious villain from his past – Brigadier Commander Enos Queeth. With the entire world in the crosshairs, MacGruber must race against time to defeat the forces of evil – only to find that evil… may be lurking within”. The series is expected to be released in 2021 on the streaming platform.
