A new heroine is about to arrive on Disney+. Following in the footsteps of She-Hulk, Ms. Marvel, Echo, and WandaVision comes Ironheart, a series centered on Riri Williams, a young genius inventor already seen in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.
After the events of Wakanda Forever, Riri Williams, played by Dominique Thorne, returns to her hometown of Chicago, where she intends to use her skills to change the world. However, her ambitions lead her to cross paths with the mysterious Parker Robbins, also known as The Hood, played by Anthony Ramos. Will he be an ally or one of the enemies Riri will have to face? The trailer released by Marvel and Disney+ leaves us with doubt.
Created in 2016 by Brian Michael Bendis, Riri Williams was conceived as Tony Stark’s spiritual heir. Ryan Coogler, the director of Black Panther and producer of Ironheart, points out: “Ironheart is such a great character in publishing. […] In the comic book, Riri Williams and Tony Stark had a relationship—she was a student at MIT who came from an almost polar opposite background as Tony, but they came together in their passion to better society. Eventually, the character gets her own identity as Ironheart, and other writers like Eve Ewing picked up from there, taking Riri Williams to Chicago.”
The six-episode Ironheart series will be available on Disney+ on June 25, 2025. The cast includes Lyric Ross (This Is Us), Alden Ehrenreich (Solo: A Star Wars Story), Regan Aliyah (XO, Kitty), Matthew Elam (Fargo), Manny Montana (Good Girls), and Anji White (Fargo).
