Casting News: Donald Glover and Phoebe Waller-Bridge in a reboot of Mr. & Mrs. Smith, new names for the Game of Thrones prequel

CSI: Vegas – CBS
CSI: Vegas, the sequel to CSI: Crime Scene Investigation series, adds three names to its main cast. Paula Newsome (Chicago Med), Matt Lauria (Kingdom), and Mel Rodriguez (The Last Man on Earth) will join two of the series’ historical actors: William Petersen and Jorja Fox. (Source)

Mr. and Mrs. Smith – Amazon Prime Video
Donald Glover (Atlanta) and Phoebe Waller-Bridge (Fleabag) will be reunited on the small screen for a series based on the movie Mr. and Mrs. Smith. They will also be in charge of developing the series alongside Francesca Sloane (The First). (Source)

God’s Favorite Idiot – Netflix
The comedy God’s Favorite Idiot, scheduled to air on Netflix, is expanding its cast. Are announced: Yanic Truesdale (Gilmore Girls), Usman Ally (68 Whiskey), Ana Scotney (Shortland Street), Chris Sandiford (Cavendish) and Steve Mallory (Flipped). (Source)

Shameless – Showtime
Joshua Malina will return to his role as Arthur Tipping in the eleventh and final season of Shameless. He will be a recurring character in the final episodes. (Source)

The Goldbergs – ABC
Beth Triffon, who had already appeared in The Goldbergs for one episode, will make her comeback in the series as a recurring character. She will once again play the role of Joanne, Geoff’s sister. (Source)

House of the Dragon – HBO
Four new names were announced to join the cast of House of the Dragon, the Game of Thrones prequel. Rhys Ifans (Berlin Station) will play Otto Hightower, the Hand of the King. Steve Toussaint (Pine Gap) will play Lord Corlys Velaryon, the lord of House Velaryon from a Valyrian bloodline as old as House Targaryen. Eve Best (Fate: The Winx Saga) will be Princess Rhaenys Velaryon, wife to Lord Corlys and passed over as heir to the throne in favor of her cousin Viserys. Finally, Sonoya Mizuno (Maniac) will play Mysaria, a woman who came to Westeros with nothing, who has been sold multiple times and who becomes the unlikely ally of Prince Daemon Targaryen. (Source)

Armas de Mujer – Peacock
The dramedy Armas de Mujer will have the presence of Roselyn Sánchez (Devious Maids), Sylvia Sáenz (Betty in NY) and Jeimy Osorio (Celia). They join Kate del Castillo (La Reina del sur) in this series that will focus on four women who face their worst nightmare after the police arrested their husbands for being linked to the same criminal organization. Accustomed to a life of abundance, they will now have to join forces in the most unusual way. (Source)

The Essex Serpent – Apple TV+
Claire Danes (Homeland) replaces Keira Knightley in the serial adaptation of Sarah Perry’s novel The Essex Serpent. She will play Cora, a widow who leaves Victorian London for a small village in Essex, bewildered by a local superstition that a mythical creature, known as the Essex Serpent, has returned to the area. Young Rock – NBC
Matthew Willig (Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.) joins the cast of the Young Rock series to play the famous French wrestler André the Giant. (Source)

Rebel – ABC
Mary McDonnell (Major Crimes), Adam Arkin (Life), Matthew Glave (Better Things) and Jalen Thomas Brooks (Animal Kingdom) will participate in the first season of Rebel, a series inspired by the story of Erin Brockovich. (Source)

Punky Brewster – Peacock
The Punky Brewster revival, which will make its debut on February 25th on Peacock, welcomes Jasika Nicole (Fringe). She will play Lauren, a self-confident, playful lawyer whose relationship with Cherie (Cherie Johnson) develops throughout the season. (Source)
